What the International Mentorship & Bursary is:
Thanks to a Resource Sharing grant from the Arts Council of Ireland, Pan Pan engaged Kirsten Dehlholm, Artistic Director of Hotel Pro Forma, to work as a mentor with four artists developing ideas for performance projects: Gina Moxley, Una McKevitt and the collaborative team of Tom Lane and Aoife Spillane-Hinks.
In addition to having a series of engagements with Kirsten, each selected artist received a bursary to help them dedicate time to working on their ideas.
They met Kirsten in Dublin at the end of July, in October and again in November and received a bursary to help them dedicate the time to work on and develop their ideas for performance.
An informal public sharing of the ideas that they are working on, and of the mentorship process itself, took place in early December and as part of a day-long symposium event hosted by Pan Pan.
About Kirsten Dehlholm and Hotel Pro Forma:
Under the artistic direction of Kirsten Dehlholm, Hotel Pro Forma has developed a worldwide reputation as being one of the most provocative, inspiring and innovative production companies in the experimental performing arts.
Hotel Pro Forma describe themselves as an international laboratory of visual performance and installation art. Each work is developed through an almost natural-science approach to study and research, and subject matter is often taken from this world-view. The artistic process is exploratory and transdisciplinary. The structure of the work is strongly anchored in music, visual arts and architecture and does not follow traditional theatrical structures.
